The "Aussiedoodle" is a hybrid/cross of the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle, both
breeds come in 3 differnt sizes, with "Standard" being the biggest, Mini or Miniature the medium size, and Toy is
the smallest.
In the Poodle breed standards, a "Standard" sized dog is one who is a minum of 15 inches at the
shoulder ( A Very SMALL Standard!) and up, an average sized standard poodle usually ranges fron 22-26 inches at the shoulder,
and weighs from 45-70 lbs, some can be taller and are refered to as "Royal' by some breeders. In the Australian
Shepherd the "Standard" is also the largest, being 18 inches or taller at the shoulder, the weight can range
from 35 lbs and up.
A Miniature poodle is from 10-15 inches at the shoulder and weighs
anywheres from 10-20 lbs on average, depending on the hieght. A 'Miniature aussie" is from 14-17 inches at the shoulders
and weighs around 15-30 lbs on average. There can be what's called "Throwbacks" in the mini aussies as the breed
was bred down in size by mating smaller sized standard dogs over several generations to end up with a mini sized Aussie, the
"Throwbacks" are a bigger sized mini, usually around 17-18 inches and actually a small standard size, many breeders
are mating these large mini's/small standards to mini's resulting in a mix of sizes
in their litters.
A Toy sized Poodle can be from 6 up to 10 inches at the shoulders
according to breed standards, and can weigh from 2 up to 12 lbs. A very tiny toy poodle is refered to by breeders as
a "T-Cup"
A toy Australian Shepherd usually ranges from 10-13 inches
at the shoulders and weighs around 8-16 lbs. Again in the toy sized Aussies there can be "Throwbacks" or dogs in
a litter who are bigger then the toy size breed standards as they too were developed by breeding smaller sized mini's to bring
down the size, so in both the mini and toy sized australian shepherds there can be genes present to cause bigger sized puppies
in a litter.
My Standard sized "Aussiedoodles can range
from 35lbs up to 65 lbs, depending on the parents and which generation it is, with most of my F1's ranging from 35 up to 50
lbs. The F1B's usually range from 40-55 lbs, and the F2B's from 45-65 lbs.
My mini sized "Aussiedoodles"
usually range from 15-30 lbs, again depending on parents, with the F1's averaging from 18-28 lbs, the F1B's are usually from
15-20 lbs, once in awhile there can be puppies who will stay on the smaller end, or the bigger end of the scale!
My "Moyen" sized Aussiedoodles are generaly about knee high at the shoulder and
weigh from 30-35 lbs as adults."Moyen" is a term used to describe a small standard or very large miniature
poodle.
My occasional litter of "Toy sized" "Aussiedoodles are the most varying
in size! Ranging from 5 lbs to 15 lbs! (The small mini end of the scale!)
I
try to give an accurate description of a litters/puppies adult size, but as there are many variables, it is only an educated
guess! Some can mature smaller then stated and some can end up larger the anticapatied!
